The USCG OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Vessel) exam is made up of four modules:
- Rules of the Road: Covers right-of-way rules, lights, and signals
- Navigation General: Covers weather, tides, currents, and charts
- Chart Navigation: Covers plotting courses, measuring distances, and determining latitude and longitude
- Deck General/Safety: Covers boat handling, firefighting, and safety equipment
This course provides a concise review of key topics covered in the US Coast Guard Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) exam. It focuses on core knowledge areas essential for passing the exam, including:
- Navigation Rules: Understanding and applying the rules of the road to prevent collisions.
- Navigation General: Chart reading, compass use, aids to navigation, and basic plotting.
- Safety: Emergency procedures, fire fighting, first aid, and vessel safety equipment.
- Vessel Operations: Handling characteristics, maintenance, and legal requirements.
This course is designed as a review and assumes some prior familiarity with the material. It is not a substitute for a comprehensive OUPV course but a targeted exam preparation tool.
